    Yahaya Adoza Bello (born 18 June 1975) is a Nigerian politician, accountant, businessman, and public figure who served as the Governor of Kogi State from 27 January 2016 to 27 January 2024. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was one of the youngest state governors in Nigeria during his tenure.

    Early Life & Education
    Yahaya Bello was born on 18 June 1975 in Agassa, a community in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State. He was raised in a family that encouraged discipline, hard work, and education from an early age.

    He began his primary education at LGEA Primary School in Agassa, later attending Government Secondary School, Suleja (Niger State) where he completed his secondary school certificate in 1994. Wikipedia

    Bello pursued higher education at Kaduna Polytechnic Zaria and subsequently enrolled in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 1999. He continued his studies at the same institution and obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2002. He also became a Chartered Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) in 2004.

    Early Career
    After completing his National Youth Service in 2001, Bello began his professional career at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), where he worked as an accounting officer and demonstrated commitment and diligence.     Beyond public service, he engaged in business ventures including investments across sectors such as transportation, real estate, and agro-related enterprises. His business activities were reported to create employment opportunities, particularly for youth and graduates from Kogi State.

    Political Career & Governorship
    In the 2015 Kogi State gubernatorial election, the original APC candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu, passed away before the final result was declared. The All Progressives Congress subsequently selected Yahaya Bello to replace Audu as its candidate. He contested in the resulting supplementary election and was declared the winner.

    Bello was sworn in as Governor of Kogi State on 27 January 2016, becoming one of the youngest governors in Nigeria’s history at age 40. He was re-elected for a second term on 16 November 2019, serving until 27 January 2024.
